THE HARVEST

Didn’t this land kiss our feet when we walked on it? Didn’t its fruit give up sweetness when we bit into them? When we lay our bodies over the flowers? Did they for a moment resist death? Didn’t they give up their last perfumed breaths willingly? Didn’t the trees bend and break to make way for our towers

The mountains sliced themselves in half. To open new paths. Air that I breath once breath in these lungs. This is the harvest. Once seeds flesh picked clean from this lands own mouth.

What a foolish lover

We have made of this land.
